From Detention to Visa Grant - A happy ending!
Posted on 8th September 2022 at 14:19
Our client was a failed asylum seeker and had been living in the UK since 2012 with unregulated immigration status. In 2020, he was arrested and detained by the Home Office Immigration Enforcement team. Whilst detained at Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre, Vietnamese Embassy was approached by the Home Office to get client’s Emergency Travel Document to affect his removal from the UK. The client and his partner were extremely distressed at the prospect of his imminent removal.
We were only instructed by the client’s partner at that stage. Evaluating the urgency of circumstances and potential risks involved if delayed, we made strong representations seeking client’s urgent release based on his genuine relationship and established family life with his partner. We made Bail application to both Secretary of the State and the Immigration Tribunal. Not only that our client was released from detention within few days, he was later granted a limited
leave to remain [30 months visa].
He now runs a successful business and has been living happily with his partner and a young child.
